Windows Live 2011

Windows Live 2011 RTM is now out I have been testing the beta for a while and it is fantastic but there are some differences that are important I think the major one is in messinger witch now has facebook chat. So I recommended you update to it here. I will be doing another post like this in a bit.
Search Engine series post 1

This is the first of the series of posts on search and wear I would like it to go. Search is so old, Google revolutionised search with their entry to the market in 2004 now look at the rest of technology it has advanced so much from then but other search engines then copped Google and some of them have ether gone under or lost most of its traffic the “modern” search engine is now 6 years old! Just now we are seeing some new fetchers but do we really want them? “Real-time search from Google” is that a good name? I don’t think so because they are not crawling every site every second of every day are they are using social APIs to pull new posts about a topic that someone searched. Pictures on home page Google now takes 3 seconds to load! this is meant to be the fastest loading site on the internet (i have the fastest internet in Australia: cable) this is the same image with no square that tell you things that i have loaded 100 times before on that computer wear as Bing only takes 1.5 seconds with a different picture with info on it that i have loaded about 2 times (because it is my default engine so i use the search bar). Bing now has Wikipedia built in and it has lots of different little fetches that make it heaps better it has a reading mode so it strip away the ui it has a search box to search the article you can highlight things it has a button that sends you to the top and you can jump to any part of the article if it can it will provide a location it has a pictures tab so it has article pictures Bing images and Bing videos and all this is in a box that will stay with you wear ever you scroll. Bing also has lots of little fetchers that i may list in later posts and all these fetchers make it a pleaser to use. So that is it for this post tell me what you think b commenting the next post should be coming soon.
Facebook docs (Office web apps)

I thought that the Office web apps have been very bad I thought (Web apps have just been updated) and now they have put them into facebook. Now when you create a facebook app there is a maximum width it can be and the app is wider than that so they have put scroll bars inside the app so it is relay hard to navigate so I would suggest going to http://docs.com/, it is much easier to navigate so you just connect it with your facebook account. But even on the site the apps themselves are terrible they are even worse than web apps. Word doesn’t have the ribbon menus and that is because it is just a text editor nothing else it is as basic as notepad. Power Point is a bit better it has the ribbon menus (only 3 tabs though). Excel is the same as word no ribbon. The only good thing about them is that they are social. But be very careful because it is very easy to allow it to post automatically and when you do it will post whenever you edit create or look at a document. And another good thing is that if you have a facebook page you can post documents to it and it will not come up in yours and your friend’s news feeds.
