The HTC Thunderbolt is and Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G phone. Is currently on Verizon in the US but hopefully in Australia at the end of the year when Telstra rolls out its LTE 4G network. It is on Android 2.2 (Honeycomb) with HTC Sense it could be upgraded to 2.3 (Gingerbread) if you root it. It has a 4.3″ WVGA touch screen. It also has an 8MP rear facing camera with 2 LED flash on the front it has a 1.3MP camera. 8GB of space upgradable to 32GB with micro SD and 768MB of RAM. It had Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, digital compass, G-Sensor and a Proximity Sensor. It has surround sound (not like the HTC Surround with WP7). It has a 1GHz Qualcomm chip (In the US it is Netflix Approved). On 4G you can have a Wi-Fi hotspot with up to 5 things connected.
At the moment there are only really 2 search engens Bing and Google. I thing Bing is doing the right thing they are getting deals with companies like Facebook and improving the algorithm and they know that it is going to be very hard to get people to say “Bing It!” rather than “Google It!” so they are trying to get other search engens to use Bing and trying to get other websites like Facebook to use there algorithm and then put powered by Bing there in the hope that people will like the results and swap from Google to Bing. I thing Bing returns better and more relevant results so I have Bing as my default everywhere and I have not gone to “http://google.com/ in over 1 month. The only thing I think bing needs to improve on is the spelling correction Google is definitely better. They are really going at each other they are in a patent war and a while ago Google accused Bing of copying there results because the spelling correction was getting better and the results were almost the same and Google doesn’t thing Bing’s results are that good Microsoft was denying it but I tried searching in both Google and Bing and the results were different the top ones were sometimes are the same but they should be.
I got my iPad 2 about week ago I never owned an iPad 1 so the whole experience is new in my every day life because I had used an iPad 1 a few times and it is different. It feels different you know it is thiner and lighter it is 600 grams or 1.3 pounds. The cameras are there but nither of them are very good the rear facing one is 0.7 megapixles and the front facing one is smaller but the front facing one is better quality the rear facing is really grainy the front one is granny but it is better. They do not call it the iPad 2 they just.call it the iPad on the box it said iPad and on the back it ses iPad no where does it say iPad 2. It is faster but It is not something to upgrade for but I think when developers start taking advantage of the speed we will notes it a lot. You can put iPhone apps on here but they don’t look very good but is they are mostly text it is ok but when you are typing you have to use the iPhone keyboard which is ok on the iPhone but not on the iPad. The smart cover is way overpriced it it easy to put on and take off it is ment to clean your screen but is does not it will fold up in to a triangle but it is not very stable one thing it does do is lock and unlock the device when you close and open the cover. If you want to jailbreak it there isn’t one out there at the moment but there should be one soon. I have written this post all on my iPad 2 on the drive from Melbourne to Geelong and the keyboard is very easy to use. Over all it is good but I don’t think it is a reason to upgrade from iPad 1 but if you don’t have an iPad it is a really good device.
IE9 got released a few days ago it supports a lot more standards than other IE versions
but still not up to the standards of other browsers. So I suggest that everyone
gets IE9 and then get Google Chrome Frame, IE9 is really fast I suggest you do
not put any toolbars on because it slows the browser it does not look as good
and it takes away from the internet witch is something IE9 tries not to do.
Google Chrome supports a lot more standards than any other browser so Google decided
that IE was holding the web back so the developed Google Chrome Frame for IE It
supports IE 9, 8 and 7 if you install that your browser will support all of the
things your IE supports and all of what Chrome 10 supports so you end up supporting
a lot more standards. Try to keep your browser up to date you will support more
standards so when developers see most people are using a browser that supports
this fetcher they will put is in to the things they develop so the web will be
a much beter and exiting place. If you are on IE6 definitely get off it
Microsoft its self has now got a website telling people to get off it. IE 9 is
not available for Windows XP. Here is a website that shows you what browsers support
what standards. If you would like to see what the web is capable of using
chrome open this presentation it is done using HTML 5 not flash.
Last week Apple CEO Steve Jobs went on sick leave Leo Laporte said he thinks Microsoft has more chance of getting Bill Gates back than Apple getting Steve Jobs back. Google CEO Eric Schmidt is now the Executive Chairman Of The Board, Larry Page Founder of Google is back after 10 years in his job of CEO and Founder of Google Sergey Brin is now going to be concentrating on products for more information go to the Official Google blog. HP has got rid of 4 of their executives created another position and got 5 more in including former CEO of eBay Meg Whitman.
I have been using the beta of IE 9 for a while now and I love it I was not exited about IE 7 or8 but the one is fantastic! When it comes out in Windows update I think everyone should update to it but not everyone will because Stat counter said worldwide 27.7% of people are on IE 8 14.8% for IE 7 and 8.7% on IE 6! I used to use Chrome and Firefox before that and I have the Chrome and Firefox Betas but I just can’t go back even with the Chrome ‘instant’ page load IE 9 is still better. The GPU acceleration helps a lot. The whole browser is faster I loaded Bing and Google in both Chrome and IE 9 and IE 9 was faster I also tested the 2 starting up and IE 9 won. If you know what is happening with H.264 and Google (Web M) then you will understand why I am very happy that IE 9 is so good.IE 9 integrates with windows better than other browsers do if you have a web app it can run as an icon next to native programs. I think that you should get the beta. Overall I think Internet Explorer 9 is the best browser out there at the moment and I can’t wait for it to be released.
There is a facebook app that shows you what your Windows Phone 7 would look like you do have to allow it to acsess all your info but there is 1 limatation you cannot interact with it so here it is.
